Default Hello Ritualists, I have a Few Questions

I was curious on a couple of things about this proffession. How would you compare your playing it to a monk? From what I can see, it is an extremely flexible class that reminds me of WoW's(yes I said WoW :P) druid. So my question is, is this proffession "the jack of all trades". Sorry if this has been posted somewhere else, I'd appreciate it if you wouldn't flame me and point it out.
Thanks

Actually thats a pretty good way to look at it.

Its very similar to a Druid in WoW... and I've played both

Druids were one of my favorite classes back in the WoW days... I really enjoy my ritualist too. At the moment Im resto and Ill probably keep it that way. Ironically enough my Druid was resto too but thats another matter.

Ritualists are a great support class. They can't spike as well as an Ele for example or heal as well as a monk but they can do a bit of everything which is what I like.

In my opinion Im quite happy with Ritualists. Unfortunately I can't say the same for assassins.

I still have to see the other combos.
I've only met 1 Rt/Me and 1 Me/Rt and they're very good.

That's because player inteligence isn't as good as the AI . I always take out the rit first, because they heal better than monks and spike better than eles, the only thing they can't do is nuke, but then again since the nerf neither can eles (but that is another thread).

The down side to rits is their combat animation makes them slow.

I believe this has been posted in a different thread, but Monks are better healers overall. They are best at single healing, Ritualists are better at party healing. Monks get the benefit of Divine Favour, where Ritualists do not.

I'm not sure about the power of an Elementalist vs the Ritualist. However, someone else (I can't remember the name) has posted a Ritualist doing over 400 damage.

I'm a new Ritualist/Necro (20th level but still new to the class) and I've seen spell descriptions stating a spell that does X amount of damage to foes in an area near spirits. The damage is multiplied by the number of spirits (upto 5 I think). Place spirits around an area (not clumpped together) and monsters that are drawn into the area, then cast that spell (I don't know the spell name) and damage to those monsters near the the spirits. The spirits themselves do their thing (damage, protection, heal, etc.) So, basically a Ritualist can to some very good healing and do some nasty damage.

I do agree with Markaedw, their animation of attacking is slow. Its fun to watch though. The twists of the body and having the Ritualist look upside down at his/her foe and blast them with a wand or staff.

Does anyone know if that animation means that if you are hit while attacking, your whole body is vulnerable to the attack? I mean everyone else is attacked mostly on the body, but a Ritualist sticks his/her head forward and has their body basically horizontal to the ground. So does that mean that your head, body and legs are all subject to being hit by a basic attack?

I dont' think so....but that'd be a nightmare to test.

In comparison to a monk they are decent back up healers but not replacement. Their skills take lots longer to cast (1-3 seconds is a lot longer than 1/4 - 3/4), take longer to recharge (my fastest recharging regeneration skill is 1 second but most of them are around 5 not including the regen sprit which recharge is 60 seconds and at 16 regen it only lasts for 45 seconds), and don't heal for near the same amounts as a monk. Not to mention the no bonus from monks primary attribute.
